aiION®: Geothermal Intelligence from Water Chemistry
aiION® is Geologic®'s software platform for geothermal hydrogeochemical assessment. It turns the water chemistry of springs and wells into defensible estimates of deep reservoir temperature and per-cubic-metre power potential, on three pillars: multi-method classical geothermometry, with eleven established solute formulations computed side by side and reconciled into a best estimate; PHREEQC-based multi-component geothermometry, which scans the full mineral assemblage across temperature to find where the suite converges on equilibrium; and Monte Carlo estimation of stored heat, recoverable energy, and electric power per cubic metre of reservoir. The core geothermometry research behind the platform was completed by Geologic® in 2025.
The problem aiION® solves is practical. Conventional geothermometry is manual spreadsheet work: one analyst, one formula at a time, with method choice left to individual judgment and no systematic treatment of uncertainty. aiION® replaces that with a single reproducible pipeline: every sample passes the same quality screening, every method carries its literature citation, every multi-component run is archived down to the saturation index of each mineral at each temperature, and every power figure is a probability distribution rather than a single number.
